Day 7 of Class

I have decided to make a game of popping balloons.  This game the monkey shoots the balloons to pop the them.  I liked how you can move the monkey around.  With my game I am going to have a tiger moving around popping the balloons.   This has given me some ideas on what colors to use in the background.

I like the game Joe posted.  It looks fun.

May 24, 2011 Day 6 of Class

Today in class we learned more about what you can do in flash.  We had to decide what kind of game we are going to design and how we want it to work.  I am designing my game for 1st and 2nd graders who are learning their vowels and need help recognizing them in words.  The game will teach the kids what words have the correct vowels sounds.  The game will take place in a circus.   There will be circus animals and balloons.  It will give the kids a fun atmosphere to learn in.  It just gives a fun atmosphere, there will be words on the balloons and when they pop the correct balloons they will go into a column and get points when you get all the correct words the incorrect word balloons will explode and the circus will give a performance, and you will go onto the next vowel.  The game will be fun where quiz's are not.  

I liked Sarah's post on her game, I had a similar idea but decided not to explore it.

Day 5 of Class

Today I competed my first mini game.  I thought it was challenging creating the mini game, not really hard but very time consuming and making sure you did every step just right or the game wouldn't work.  The best part of the topic to me was getting the game done and it working.  The worst part was having to figure out how to get the pizza to move without step by step instructions.

Day 3 of Class

Hi, my name is Shirley.   I am married and a mother of two daughters.   The topic I am working on is reading, reading is so important that I decided to design my game for reading.  Some of the links I found will help me in deciding exactly what I want to structure my game around.

Protecting your privacy on the Internet is important in today's times.  If you put your address on the Internet and a predator happens to find it he/she could show up at your house.  Putting your phone number on there could also give them more information they could use.  Using your full name can also be a way for them to get more information about you.  There are many reasons to be careful about what you put about yourself on the Internet.  Just make sure you don't give to much information about yourself, your family or your home.

I think I would like to design my game with either action or puzzle depending on which idea I decide to use.  I am thinking of designing a game for reading or spelling.

May 16, 2011 First Day

I attend West Virginia University at Parkersburg.
I would like to be able to create a demo for an educational game.  I am worried about not knowing exactly what I want to do and how to do it.

This is one of my pictures.  I love photography.       Lots to learn in just a few days.
